Kitchen - Clean inside the oven — racks, door glass and roof - Pull the fridge out and clean behind and underneath - Soak the rangehood filter in degreaser - Run a dishwasher cleaning cycle - Descale the kettle and run a vinegar cycle through the coffee maker - Clean all drawer and cupboard interiors - Clean behind and under the stovetop if removable - Clean the grout on splashback tiles

Bathrooms - Descale the showerhead - Deep-scrub all grout lines with a grout brush - Clean the silicone seals for mould - Remove and wash the exhaust fan grille - Machine-wash the shower curtain with vinegar - Wipe all tile and painted wall surfaces - Descale the toilet tank interior - Polish fixtures to remove water spots

Bedrooms - Flip, vacuum and spot-clean the mattress - Wash or replace mattress protectors - Launder decorative pillows and throws - Wipe the headboard and clean behind it - Move all furniture and vacuum or mop underneath - Clean window tracks and wipe individual blind slats

Living areas - Clean ceiling fans — blades, housing and above the blades - Vacuum and steam-clean upholstered furniture - Clean window tracks, frames and lampshades - Wash curtains, wipe blinds and spot-clean walls - Dust and wipe all artwork frames and glass

Outdoor areas - BBQ — full internal clean, grates soaked and scrubbed, grease trap emptied - Wash outdoor furniture — surfaces, legs and undersides - Clear cobwebs from eaves, light fixtures and external corners - Sweep and hose all paths and outdoor mats

Maintenance check (do this during the deep clean) - Replace HVAC filters - Test smoke and CO detectors and replace batteries - Inspect for leaks or water damage - Test all appliances - Review towels and linen and retire anything worn, frayed or stained
